Purpose Statement: This is a critique of Newberg Downtown Coalition’s online business profile.

The profile itself on their website looks somewhat simplistic in nature. They are leaning towards looking like a nice small town that is rooted deeply in the community. They do this well by using neutral greens to provide that Oregon small-town vibe. They have their key phrase at the top of their page: “Experience small-town America in Newberg” It is in front of a picture of a mass group of people gathered in a community. They also do well-showcasing everything that they offer and do in the organization. It has a bold header with a picture of the product or service that is at their disposal, it is hyperlinked which gives you even more detail as to what it is when clicked. The profile focuses greatly on their strength of being a tight-knit community that offers a different experience than what the city usually offers. They do a good job of marketing themselves as a place to relax to get out of the rigors and stresses of the city.

There are ways however that their online business profile could greatly improve with some simple suggestions. Their online business profile is missing some key components that would greatly benefit them if added and create a better user experience. They are missing a brief history of their organization and how they grew to be what they are today. There is also no information on staff members that we can contact specifically for what we might need. The last part that they are missing is any special recognition for their efforts in the community. These pieces of information would be very helpful in legitimizing their online presence and also creating a wealth of information for others to invest in.
